Texas Road House

Last night was my first day of training at Texas Road House. It was great! For the first hour I did paperwork with one of the servers and another newbie. We then got a tour and our uniforms and got put to work. From 4 to 6, I was what's called a food runner. I "kaled" and carried trays out to tables for servers. (I didn't drop any trays! Knock on wood, I literally just did :D) There was one moment where I had to wait for a bunch of people to get seated, and my arm about gave out, but I made it to the table.

My arm is pretty sore today... hopefully I'll get more buff soon!

Then I got to go behind the bar and learn about all kinds of vodka, beer, rum, gin, and tequila. Let me tell you, that was super exciting. I learned a lot, which is good, because servers get a lot of money from people who drink. The bartender let me go early because of how well I was doing :D

So, last night went really well, and THEN....

I had a horrible terrible work NIGHTMARE. I dremt that I was back in TRH and they needed me to serve a bunch of tables, but my trainer wasn't there and I couldn't even get the drink orders in. I was trying to tell people that I didn't know what I was doing and that I needed help, but no one would listen, so finally I yelled out, "SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!" After which, I woke up and hurried out of bed to get to my test because my alarm didn't go off. It was a great start to my morning this morning... lol. And it made me nice and nervous for tonight, even though I know that I will have my trainer to follow... haha.

Also, I was a little irresponsible last night after work and went country dancing with dustin, who I've been on a few dates with. We had a really fun time, and improved A LOT. We are going to go again next monday and see if we can't get even better. It didn't help that we were both drained to the max by the time we even got there (he'd been up since 3 a.m. and I had been at work.) I bet we will do even better next week :D It was a lot of fun.

  4. look up "the web site story." it is a parody of the west side story. there's a line in one of their songs that talks about how the couple can't wait to read about themselves on each other's blogs. ha ha. you mentioning dustin reminded me of that.
