A Hike To Remember

During the summer, i went on this fun hike to the Wind Caves, which are in logan canyon. I've done the hike twice now, and believe me! it's hard! for my english class i had to write a personal narrative. It had to be about something personal, an experience that had significance in our lives. Or, that changed our lives in some way. While pondering this assignment, i thought about my hiking adventure to the wind caves, how it is SO hard, but once you get to the top, everything was worth it to see the cave, and the view. I felt like i was standing on top of the world. Well, i realized that this is what i should write my paper on. I learned that by pushing through the hard times, I can gain an experience that otherwise I never would have been able to obtain. I found out that this is the reason i love hiking.

While writing my paper, i thought a lot about the peace and quiet that nature offers. when i was up on the mountain, it seemed like the whole world paused, and i just listened to the wind, and took in the view. There were no ipods, tv, traffic noise, or people (besides the few friends i was with). I think that everyone needs to go out to nature once in a while, if not to enjoy camping, or fishing, just to get away from it all. Just to think about what is truly important. that's what it does for me. It centers me, gets me back on track, helps me think of my heavely father, and his beautiful creation! I just love nature!

What great insight. I love hiking too for some of the same reasons you mentioned. I've never been on this particular hike but it sounds great, I'd love to plan a time to go with you! I still want to do Timp again, I wish we could have planned a time this summer to go but I'm sure there's only another week or two before the snow/cold weather hit that high.

Hiking can be a lot of fun. Michelle keeps trying to take me hiking but there is something to walking a long ways that just doesn't seem fun. I guess when you go again for the first time it probably reminds you why you like it. I guess I need to just go again and remember all the good things God has given us.
