Gotta Love General Conference

I love general conference. It is so great. I love listening to the leaders of our church and finding new insights in what they have to say. Sometimes I feel like it just doesn't come around enough. While listening to conference this morning, one of the speakers was talking about money, and living providently. One thing that he said really struck me. He talked about how their family was saving up for a trip to Colorado, and every time someone would want to buy something that year, another in the family said, 'do you want to buy that now, or have a great trip later'? This struck me pretty hard. I started wondering what kinds of things i'm 'buying' right now in my life that could put a damper on my future. I think that this principle applys to every aspect of life, not just money. Hopefully i can keep my eyes on the goal of eternal life and making it back to my father in heaven, and remember that some of the things that I may want to 'buy' right now may not be the best choice. Oh man, I love conference! :)

In case you were wondering, I could not come home for general conference. I'm very sad about that, but luckily I can go to Rob's to watch it. And his mom was nice enough to feed me breakfast this morning, so I am being well taken care of :)

  1. I love it too!!! That was a good talk...so many of them were. Jeff and I do our best to live that way, we eat cheap and hardly buy new clothes but we're going to NY in a few weeks and we couldn't have afforded it if we always bought what we wanted when we wanted it. But, we too could and should be better. Thanks for the reminder.
